À propos de Maja
After my initial studies in Translation (English-Portuguese-Dutch), I followed my vocation of teaching languages and finished a second Bachelor in a.o. Teaching German as a Foreign Language and a CELTA (Cambridge Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults). Since 2009 I have taught languages in various settings (high school, university, private companies, adult education including programmes adapted to learning difficulties) and in five different countries. Nowadays I focus on teaching (Belgian) Dutch, however I am happy to answer any questions in other languages and refer to them whenever it adds value to our class.
Besides languages and education, I have a particular interest (and pursued further training) in a.o. aviation, cognitive science and mental health. I also love animals and have a little furry "teaching assistant" that tends to show up at least once in every class.

- I will suggest we speak Dutch whenever possible (yes, even if you are a beginner :) ), except where using your language really adds something (for example to explain similarities or differences).
- I will make sure there is enough variation in theory and practice, listening and talking time, more intensive and lighter activities etc.
- I will encourage you to discover the rules whenever possible because the more you have to think for yourself, the better you will remember.
- I will give you advice on how we can make the best use of our class time and what you could do on your own to progress faster.
- I will encourage you to give feedback anytime and adapt as much as possible (or explain why I think the method used is actually helpful).
After all, I believe you will learn best if you can learn in your own style.

Parfait ! Maja prend le temps d'expliquer si on ne comprend pas. Elle est très gentille et articule bien ce qui permet une bonne compréhension
Parfait ! Maja est une prof motivée, avec beaucoup de patience et un chouette sens de l'humour :) Elle me parle en néerlandais, d'une manière où je comprends ce qui est pour moi un grand atout!

Parfait ! Maja is a great teacher that I strongly recommend. We are absolute beginners in Flemish and she is very patient and adapts to our pace of learning.
Her methodology is very efficient with a perfect balance between grammar and a variety of exercises that make the classes dynamic. We were able to express ourselves in Flemish since the beginning and have a lot of fun during her classes! :-))- Rafa and Maria are reliable, motivated and most of all fun to work with. Parfait ! Maja is an excellent teacher. She is dynamic, fun, patient, and has a lot of experience. The activities she provides me with target different communication skills (listening, writing, speaking) and help me learn for myself, which I really appreciate. I 100% recommend Maja!
I started learning Dutch with her, in English and it was my best language learning experience.
From the very beginning, she knows what she's exactly doing and she teaches you in your own style of learning. We could already communicate in Dutch from the first session and soon I could get a full exemption from the level A1 for the university. She's also very caring, flexible and friendly.
Ps. I could just always thank her for making it possible for me to communicate with my boyfriend's family in Dutch!Maja is a teacher who is concerned about the well-being of her students and their progress. She was giving lessons in different countries, teaching representatives of different cultures. This is a highly skilled and experienced professional who will help you boost your language skills.

Classes cancelled in the last 24 hours (or forgotten, impossible due to connection issues etc.) will be covered (unless we find a solution that suits us both within a day or so - no guarantees though). Of course I hold myself to the same standards: If I should cancel late for any reason, I will offer the next lesson for free!
