Excellent ! I took intensive private French lessons (15h per week) with Aline for 1 month while I was in Lyon, and she is one of the best French teachers I’ve ever had! She was very receptive to my ideas and preferences for lessons. We had very active lessons where I could practice my French in real-life contexts (e.g., in a café, walking around the city and looking at the sights, sampling different pastries and ice cream flavors). We established a good mix of real-life practice and sitting for longer periods of time to learn and practice pronunciation, new vocabulary, and grammar. I found Aline to be a flexible, responsive, humble, and thoughtful teacher. She would bring worksheets to use as teaching aids for particular grammar concepts that I needed to work on, and when she wasn’t sure about a certain grammar concept she would humbly admit she wasn’t sure and think it through, rather than just making something up. I appreciated that Aline was attentive to my mistakes and would note them on a piece of paper to discuss later, which was nice so that I could learn from my mistakes without being constantly interrupted, which I think would have been a bit inhibiting for me. Aline also has a good sense of humor. She even managed to make French pronunciation drills fun and memorable, which I never would have expected! She was also easy to talk to and chatty, which made it easy to practice conversation. She was a particularly great teacher for a French immersion experience; she would explain concepts and new vocabulary in French first, before translating a word or two here or there in English if I still didn’t understand. I would definitely recommend Aline to other students!
